The Marine Corps Base itself provides top-notch training and support to the on-site commands.

Other distinguishing features of Camp Lejeune include its beautiful and varied topography and plentiful recreation activities. Fourteen miles of the base’s perimeter lie along the Atlantic coastline, an area consisting of salt marshes and diverse barrier islands. Additionally, New River runs through the center of the base, providing miles of beaches and outdoor areas to explore. Marinas and beaches are open year-round for boating, canoeing and sailing, jet skiing, wind surfing, swimming and other water sports activities.

The base is also outfitted with a bowling alley, theater, exchange market, equestrian riding club, skeet and trap shooting range, wood hobby shop and golf course. Swimming pools, fitness centers and intramural sports programs provide the facilities and the motivation for all types of sports and physical activities.
